12U Flyers win tourney on walk-off

After trailing 7-0 early, Ryan Edwards’ walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning capped an epic championship game comeback and gave the 12U PF Flyers their first tournament victory of 2026.

Edwards singled on a hard ground ball to score Jack Wilson from third and earn the championship.

The Flyers gave up seven runs in the top of the first. But Peyton Johnson entered the game in relief. Johnson threw four hitless, scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

That allowed the Flyers to rally. They scored three runs in the bottom of the second. The big blow was a two-run single by Isaac Mahle.

The Flyers added three more runs in the fourth. Chase Collins scored on a balk. Colton Rash added an RBI single and scored on a squeeze bunt by Wilson.

Silas Lincoln added a sacrifice fly to tie the score at 7-7 in the bottom of the fifth.

Carter Biron pitched a perfect top of the sixth with two strikeouts to send the game to the bottom of the sixth.

Wilson led off the inning with a single. Mahle was hit by a pitch. A balk moved both runners up and set up Edwards’ clutch hit.

The Flyers began play Saturday by outscoring their two opponents 31-3.

Tim Finley was the star in the first game. He was 3-for-3 with two triples, two runs scored and two RBI. Bronx Debert, Carter Cassady and Biron twirled a three-hitter. The Flyers won 10-2.

Finley added another triple in the second game on Saturday. He finished the day 5-for-5 with three triples, five runs scored and four RBI. Biron was 3-for-3 with a double and four RBI. The Flyers had 16 hits in the 21-1 win.

That set up the Flyers as the top seed on Sunday.

The Flyers trailed 1-0 and then 3-2 in the semifinal before they scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 6-3 lead. Lincoln and Debert combined to allow two hits and three runs over five innings for the win.

The Flyers are now 4-0 on the season.
