PF Flyers 10U team wins second tournament of 2025
The PF Flyers 10U team won the Wins for Wishes tournament, hosted by Tournaments for a Cause, this weekend, outscoring their opponents 59-6 in four games.
The Flyers started the tournament off by putting up 13 runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back.
In that first game, the Flyers won 21-1. Danny Perrmann, Carter Merrill and Parker Rooney each went 3-for-3. Perrmann drove in three runs, and Merrill and Rooney each drove in four. Rooney had a triple. Merrill had a double. Tate Brashear was 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI.
The Flyers’ second game of pool play the team started with a 13-0 lead, built up over the first three innings. The Flyers ended up winning 16-3.
Permmann was again 3-for-3, bringing him to a perfect 6-for-6 on Saturday. Rooney was 2-for-3 with two doubles. Greyson Williams and Colin Lucke were both 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI.
On the mound, four Flyers combined for a no-hitter. Dylan Weiner started and struck out the side. Charlie Cochran, Perrmann and Will Giffen each added a hitless inning.
That sent the Flyers into bracket play as the top seed.
The Flyers fell behind 1-0 in the top of the first of the semifinal. It was the only time the Flyers trailed in the tournament.
But the potent Flyers offense responded with a run in the bottom of the first, followed by three runs in the second, two in the third and five in the fifth to end the game.
Brashear was 3-for-3 with two doubles Merrill was 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Jax Taylor was 2-for-2 with three RBI.
Rooney went three innings, allowing one hit and an unearned run while striking out five to get the win.
Weiner dominated on the mound in the championship. He pitched a four-inning complete game shutout. He allowed one hit and struck out 12 — all 12 of the outs in the game. In the tournament, he struck out 15 of 16 batters he faced.
The Flyers are now 15-1.
