PF Flyers 13U wins fall tournament
The PF Flyers 13U won the MVP Halloween Havoc tournament over the weekend, outscoring the competition 40-9 in four games.
In bracket play, the Flyers won 8-1 and 12-2.
The Flyers started the tournament with a 9-3 win. Eight different Flyers had hits. Meanwhile, Drew Berning and Camden Harrod each pitched two innings, allowing two hits and striking out four. Berning allowed one run, and Harrod allowed two.
In the second pool play game, the offense was again balanced. Eleven different players each had one hit. On the mound, Jackson Copley went two innings allowing one earned run. After that, Jackson Stoll, Colten Sears and Maclin Bastin each went an inning with no earned runs allowed. The Flyers won 11-3.
That sent the Flyers to the semifinal on Sunday.
Declan Sauer went three innings, allowing only one hit, one unearned run and striking out five. Blake Ruston closed the game out by striking out the side on 10 pitches. He missed an immaculate inning by one pitch.
Mathue Baker paced the offence, going 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored.
The 8-1 win sent the Flyers to the title game.
The Flyers pounded out 10 hits and scored 12 runs. Ruston went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. Alexander Finkler went 2-for-2 with 3 RBI. Sauer went 2-for-2 with a triple, a run scored and an RBI.
Finkler and Baker combined to go four innings on the mound, allowing three hits and one earned run, striking out six.
The Flyers are finished the fall at 16-4.
