PF Flyers 13U wins its first championship

The PF Flyers 13U scored nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to come from behind in the championship game and win the Blue Ash Wood Bat Classic AA tournament.

Trailing 5-3, Garrett White started the big rally with a line drive single. One batter later, Will Garrison singled to make it 5-4. Nolan White hit a two-run single to put the Flyers up 6-4. After a run scored on an error, Gavin Fronk hit a two-run single and Sam Martell added an RBI single.

The Flyers concluded the inning up 12-5.

The Mason Monarchs added three runs in the top of the sixth to make the score 12-8, but Grayson Hicks closed the door with a 1-2-3 seventh inning to win the championship.

The Flyers began the tournament with an 8-5 win. They scored five runs in the top of the first. Meanwhile, the pitching staff allowed only two earned runs in six innings.

Ephrem Streit was 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Coy Rom was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI.

The Flyers lost the second game of pool play, 3-2.

Rom had a two-out RBI single in the top of the seventh to tie the game 2-2, but the Loveland Generals scored in the bottom of the seventh to win.

The Flyers fell behind 2-0 in the semifinal, but they added a run back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Garrett White and a run in the second inning on a groundout by Vin Vineyard.

Each team scored a run in the fourth.

Nolan White led off the fifth with a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by Vineyard to put the Flyers up 4-3. They added two more runs in the sixth on a double by Rom and an RBI single by Garrett White.

The Flyers held on to win 6-4, sending them to the championship.

Overall, the Flyers are now 12-6.
