PF Flyers 15U wins TBR Elite World Series

The PF Flyers trailed 7-2 heading into the final inning of the championship game of the Travel Baseball Rankings Elite World Series.

But the Flyers rallied for seven runs in the top of the fifth inning and set down Black Label Athletics 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning to win the World Series final 9-7.

Ryan Domingo led the inning off with a walk. One out later, Colby Mullens singled. Luke Herbert doubled to score Mullens and Domingo. Connor Bitler singled in Herbert.

After Logan Kramer walked, Andy Bennett singled to cut the deficit to 7-6. Josh Codner walked. Then Will Abbott singled to drive in Kramer and Bennett and put the Flyers in the lead for the first time in the game.

Codner scored an insurance run on a first and third double steal.

Bitler pitched a perfect bottom of the fifth with two strikeouts to seal the victory.

Herbert was 2-for-3 in the game with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI. Bennett and Abbott were also both 2-for-3.

The Flyers went 6-0 in the tournament and only trailed in one inning before the championship game.

Along the way, they beat the No. 4 and 5 ranked teams in Kentucky, the No. 4 ranked team in Illinois and the No. 4 ranked team in Ohio.

The Flyers had 56 hits in six games, led by Herbert who hit .714 in the tournament.

Kramer pitched a four-inning complete game shutout in the semifinal. He needed only 46 pitches and allowed only two hits in the 8-0 win.

The Flyers are now 21-6 on the season. The win moved them to No. 1 in TBR’s Ohio rankings and No. 22 nationally.
